As the days brighten and we draw nearer to the sunnier months of spring, it’s the perfect time to freshen up your home with a new fragrance. Our reed diffusers are an excellent complement for the warmer weather, adding a lovely floral aroma to your space for months to come. If you’re looking to get your spring cleaning done early this year, diffusers are an excellent finishing touch to liven up your space, and an aesthetically beautiful decoration.
But it’s important to make sure you get the most out of your new scent. If you’re new to reed diffusers, here are a few valuable tips that will leave your home smelling gorgeous for months to come.
- Reed Diffuser Placement
Finding a home for your new reed diffuser can have a huge impact on the effectiveness of your scent. A washroom is easy enough, since the small space will contain the scent extremely well. But if you want to enjoy your diffuser in your living room or bedroom, it’s important that you don’t leave it in a far corner.
One tip we have is to place your diffuser somewhere with a bit of natural airflow to help. Our favourite choice is to put the diffuser near the front door or in the entrance hallway. Whenever you open the door, the fresh air from outside will carry the fragrance and help spread it around your home.
- Turn Your Reeds
While it is easy to just leave a diffuser and forget about it, it is important to turn the reeds regularly and keep them free of dust. If one side of the reeds becomes oversaturated, it will have a more difficult time diffusing the fragrance. This doesn’t need to be done often — even just once a week is perfectly fine — but you will immediately notice a difference in the quality of scent if you do.
- Use Less (Or More) Reeds
If you are new to reed diffusers, it’s a good rule of thumb to start with only half of the reeds for the first few days. It will help you gauge just how strong you want your diffuser to be, adding or removing sticks as necessary.
If you prefer to keep your diffuser in a smaller space, such as a washroom, removing a few reeds is a much better way to balance the scent and enjoy the fragrance well into the summer months.
- Keep Away From Heat or Vents
The most important tip on the list: do not place your diffuser in an area with direct sunlight or near a heating element. This will cause the diffuser to evaporate rapidly, and it may even imbalance the fragrance itself. And while you may want to place your diffuser in an area with gentle airflow, be careful not to place it near fans or vents.
